Gambling Commission and Pegasus ADR to feature on EAG Safer Gambling Hub

EAG’s Safer Gambling Hub continues to go from strength to strength with confirmation that the UK Gambling Commission and the Pegasus Alternative Dispute Resolution Service will both have a presence at the 2024 edition of EAG which runs across 16-18 January at ExCeL, London.

The confirmations take the total number of social responsibility organisations including regulatory bodies to be featured on next year’s Hub to nine a figure which underlines the central importance of SR to the UK land-based, low stake gaming entertainment sector.

Bacta chief executive John White who helped curate the inaugural Safer Gambling Hub which was launched at EAG, Expo 2023 and has subsequently overseen its development ahead of the 2024 show believes that industry-leading exhibitions such as EAG have a responsibility to present the latest thinking on key industry issues as well as providing a platform to showcase the latest product.

He stated: “EAG is recognised for being the key annual opportunity for the industry to come together, to network and to share latest thinking. Whilst having access to cutting-edge product innovations delivered by over 100-brands is the most important attraction for operators, attending EAG also provides a valuable opportunity to update on SR and safer gambling courtesy of the Hub which brings together the leading organisations and SR thought leaders in a single place.”

He added: “I know from speaking with all of the 2023 participants how successful they found their presence on the Safer Gambling Hub which provided them with the opportunity to meet with low-stake gambling operators face-to-face and discuss all of the many issues impacting safer gambling. The EAG Safer Gambling Hub has been a great success and bacta is delighted to once again gift the space to our colleagues who are active in the space.”

One of the beneficiaries of the Hub will be the Pegasus Alternative Dispute Resolution Service which is approved by the Gambling Commission to provide impartial and fair adjudications on the outcome of gambling in England, Scotland and Wales. Reflecting on its appearance at EAG 2023 Pegasus ADR Controller Phil Silver said: “The Pegasus ADR Service is only available to complainants who gamble in Adult Gaming Centres, Family Entertainment Centres, Bingo Premises, Public Houses and Members’ Clubs in Great Britain. We were delighted to be a part of the first Safer Gambling Hub in 2023 which enabled us to communicate our recent rebrand. Being a part of EAG helped generate a lot of interest and enquiries and I am looking forward to using January’s edition to engage with operators and set out our strategy for the year ahead. Having an effective complaints and dispute procedure is an integral component of ‘Safer Gambling’.”

The world’s only exhibition for both the land-based gaming and pay-to-play amusements sectors EAG draws operators from sectors including family entertainment centres, adult gaming centres, piers, attractions, bars, clubs, bingo halls and bowling centres. Featuring 100+ brands and companies EAG is a ‘must attend’ for operators wanting to keep their venues ahead of the competition.
