A quick chat with Graham ‘Speedy’ Gonzalez
In the first in a series of EAG insights ahead of January’s show ‘Speedy’ explains his love for Minis, his pride at staying in business for over two decades and why he believes that having a happy family is a key measure of success
What was your first career job and wage?
Trainee baker on £1 and 14 shillings per week
What was your greatest accomplishment and what are you most proud of?
Setting up Leisure Solutions and Fair Games and staying in business for 20 odd years
Who has had the biggest influence on your career?
Friends and co-workers
What are you looking forward to most from January’s EAG?
Catching up with friends, customers and suppliers, old and new

John Stergides. A stalwart of the industry who is always ready to offer advice
What role have you enjoyed most?
Being my own boss
Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
Rose. My wife, best friend, mentor, therapist, PA and guiding light since my teens
How do you define success?
Being happy and having a happy family
How do you manage stress?
Working on my Minis, competition hill climbing, holidays plus the odd game of golf.
What are your career regrets?
Not starting in business sooner
What inspires or motivates you?
Working as part of a team to develop new products
What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?
Work hard, stay out of trouble and never give up
Something about yourself that’s not on your CV?
I love classic movies, especially comedies

A return to regular reviews of stakes and prizes
