Rays of Sunshine use EAG to celebrate 21 years of granting magical wishes

Whilst many of the visitors attending EAG will undoubtedly gravitate to the Bacta Lounge to join in the celebrations marking the association’s 50th year, there’s another highly regarded organisation which will also be in party mood. Rays of Sunshine, the main recipient of funds raised by bacta members will be using EAG to mark its 21st anniversary.

As many in the UK industry will know Rays of Sunshine is a national charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill young people and their families by granting wishes and providing ongoing support in hospital and within the community. The charity, which has reached more than 80,000 seriously ill children and their families, believes that every child deserves to experience happiness and put their illness on hold – even if it is just for one day.

The work undertaken by Rays of Sunshine sets out to create a positive distraction, reduce isolation, improve self-esteem and create precious memories and smiles. Every day of the year, Rays of Sunshine gives children and young people the chance to put their illness on hold and enjoy a moment of escape. Wishes can be as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a princess or a fireman for a day, meet their favourite celebrity or even a 'real-life' mermaid, or the Loch Ness Monster, Rays of Sunshine works hard to make that come true.

Bacta has enjoyed being a corporate partner since 2013 and has raised over £500,000 to help Rays of Sunshine grant more magical wishes. Throughout the partnership, Bacta members have hosted VIP days for Wish Children with the most recent event hosted by Funstation for Daisy-May –who was invited for a day of fun, complete with arcade games, mini golf and her favourite food.
